Queensland Household Energy Survey (QHES) 2022 and Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. This promotion is being conducted by Essential Media Communications Pty Ltd (ABN 48 074 671 462) located at Level 2, 458 Swanston Street, Carlton, VIC 3053 (Promoter) on behalf of Powerlink Queensland t/a Queensland Electricity Transmission Corporation Limited (ABN 82 078 849 233), Energy Queensland Limited (ABN 96 612 535 583), Ergon Energy Corporation Ltd (ABN 50 087 646 062) and Energex Limited (ABN 40 078 849 055 (each a Promotional Partner).
  • Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Entry is via Internet only.

Promotional Period

  • The promotion commences at 8:00am AEDT on 1/04/2022, and ends at 5:00pm AEDT on 19/04/2022.


  • Entry is only open to residents of Queensland aged 18 years or older, who:
  • Are the primary account holder of an electricity account with a Promotional Partner (Entrants); and
  • The directors, management and employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and the Promotional Partner(s) are ineligible to enter the promotion.

How to Enter

  • Entrants must, during the Promotional Period:
    • Visit the Promotional Page and fully and correctly complete and successfully submit the market research online survey (Survey), in the manner required; and
    • Register to enter the promotion by fully and correctly and successfully submitting the online entry form in the manner required, including providing all mandatory information required to complete their entry. Such information may include, but is not limited to, the Entrant’s full name residential address, contact telephone number and current and valid email address.


  • The first ten (10) Eligible Entries randomly drawn from all entries received during the Promotional Period will each receive one (1) of ten (10) EFTPOS cards, valued at RRP $100 each. The total maximum prize pool value is $1,000.
  • Promoter will not be liable for any loss, whether direct, indirect or consequential, or for personal injury, which is suffered or sustained at or in connection with this competition or use of the prizes, or for any incorrect, misleading or fraudulent information provided by any Entrant, or for any limitation of a social or online platform, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

Draw date

  • The draw to determine the ten (10) winners will take place at 3:00pm AEDT on 06/05/2022 at Essential’s Melbourne office located at Level 2, 458 Swanston Street, Carlton, VIC 3053.

Winner Notification

  1. Each winner will be notified by telephone or email within one (1) business week of the draw taking place, using the contact details provided in the survey response. Each winner will receive their prize within one (1) calendar month of the draw date.


  1. Winners’ details will not be published on any medium or platform as the value of each Prize is less than $250.00.


  1. If a prize winner cannot be contacted by 13/05/2022, the Promoter may conduct a redraw at the same time and premises as the original draw on 06/05/2022.

Unclaimed Prize Draw

  1. In the event of any unclaimed prizes, the Promoter will hold an unclaimed prize draw at the same time and premise as the original draw, on 20/05/2022.
  1. Promoter’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

Privacy Notice

The Promoter and its Promotional Partner(s) collect Personal Information about an Entrant to include the Entrant in the promotion, award the prizes (where appropriate) and use the information to assist in improving the goods and services of the Promoter and its Promotional Partner(s). If the Personal Information requested is not provided, the Entrant cannot participate in the promotion and is deemed ineligible.

An Entrant also agrees that the Promoter may, in the event the Entrant is a winner, publish or cause to be published the Entrant winner’s name and locality in any media. As required under Queensland state legislation.

The Promoter will provide to each Entrant, at time of entry into the promotion (or as soon as reasonably practicable thereafter), a collection statement that details the Personal Information being collected, the purpose of its collection, where the Personal Information will be stored and how it will be shared with third parties. The collection statement will comply with the Promoter’s disclosure obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By entering the promotion and opting-in in the manner required, Entrants acknowledge that a further primary purpose for collection of the Entrant’s Personal Information by the Promoter is to contact the Entrant in the future with information about the Promoter, including special offers, market research or to provide the Entrant with marketing materials via any medium including mail, telephone and commercial electronic messages (SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multimedia Message Service), IM (Instant Messaging) and email) or any other form of electronic, emerging, digital or conventional communications channel whether existing now or in the future. The Promoter may share an Entrant’s Personal Information with its Australian and overseas related companies, Promotional Partner(s), servants, employees, agents and trusted third parties who may contact the Entrant for their legitimate commercial purposes, including special offers, market research or to provide the Entrant with marketing materials in this way. By entering the promotion and opting-in, Entrants acknowledge and agree that the Promoter and any applicable third parties may use their Personal Information in the manner set out in this condition.

Entrants can gain access to, update or correct any of their Personal Information held by the Promoter by contacting the Promoter’s Privacy Officer at melbourne@essentialmedia.com.au. All Personal Information will be stored by the Promoter in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy. A copy of the Promoter’s Privacy Policy in relation to the treatment of Personal Information collected may be obtained by contacting the Promoter.
